How do I clone a course?

INTERNAL USE ONLY

Cloning a course takes a few easy steps:

1. Locate the course you want to clone in BluePrint.

2. Once in the course, check the Activity log.

3. Make sure that all updates have been part of a successful build. If updates have been made, but have not been built, then you will have to build the course first.

Note: A course build is not necessary after a replicate_content_ package or an export. Updates require a new build.

4. If you need to build the course navigate to the "Other Tools" section and Build for web and mobile. If you do not need to build the course skip this step.

After you initiate your build, return to the Activity Log to track the build progress and refresh the page every few minutes until the build is complete.

5. Head over to the "Other Tools" section and select the "Replicate" button.

6. Enter the new course name in the box shown.

7. Select the box for "FEED QUESTION RANKING (MASTER COURSE WILL SEND AGGREGATED ELO DATA TO CLONED COURSE)." Leave the last two boxes checked as well.

Click on the Start button to initiate the clone.

8. This can take a 5-15 minutes depending on the size of the original course. You will receive an email notification once the clone is complete along with the new course ID. You can also track the progress of the clone on the Activity log of the original course.

9. Once you know the new course ID, head over to the new course.

10. Once in the new course, head over to the Activity Log.

11. In the Activity Log, verify that the course build has completed successfully. If the course build is still in progress, wait for the build to complete.

12. Once the build has completed, return to the "Other Tools" section and select the "Publish this course" button.

13. Another course build will take place. This one should be faster than the last build. Allow the course build to complete before proceeding.

14. If you made some updates after publishing the course, you will need to build one last time for those updates to take place.

15. Update the Accelerate Course Assignments smartsheet.

16. Submit a ticket to BenchPrep to add Milestones to the new course.

What to include in your ticket:

  • New course ID
  • Course name
  • Time to unlock

Note: Time to unlock will default to 120 days unless a different value is provided.

Wait for BenchPrep to confirm that Milestones have been added.

The cloned course is now complete and ready to go. If you encounter any issues during the process, please submit a ticket to BenchPrep for assistance.
