Tell the user to follow these steps:

1. Locate the mail icon in the upper-right-hand corner.

2. Click on the mail icon and then click on "Settings."

This will take you to the Message & Notification Center where you can check and uncheck the appropriate boxes to match your preferences.  Your selections will save automatically.
